I make art about the universal experiences of being human. My recent oil paintings are narrative expressions of the significant life journeys we are on, affixed with mythological and religious imagery through a contemporary schema. When interpreting my paintings, I want the viewer to consider occupying the worlds I have created with their own life events. The recognition that these are collective experiences which we all share in common gives meaning to our lives. Communicating them through visual language between artist and viewer is at the core of what I believe it means to be human.
